Benjamin Deakin – The Teahouse Paintings

25th May – 20th June 2022 at TM Gallery

TM Lighting and JGM Gallery are delighted to present a solo exhibition of works by contemporary London-based artist Benjamin Deakin.

Deakin has a strong connection with mountains. His most recent visit to the Himalayas – the world’s highest mountain range – is the inspiration behind his latest solo exhibition, ‘The Tea House Paintings’, which opens at TM Lighting on 25th May 2022.

The exhibition plays with the idea of the ‘framed’ perspectives of the snowy Himalayan peaks from inside a Nepalese tea house, with the repetition of furnishing patterns inspired by, among other influences, the designs of British 19th-century artist William Morris from a time when creative ideas were flowing from East to West. Deakin himself grew up among mountains, in England’s Lake District National Park.

This latest solo exhibition is made up of 10 paintings and 2 hand finished limited edition prints, all offering the viewer a perspective of life at over 4 km (2.5 miles) above sea level.

TM Lighting is pleased to support artists through hosting annual exhibitions and providing complimentary exhibition space for artists, and gallery collaborations. Exhibitions in the TM Lighting gallery are lit by the GalleryOneThirty (G130) LED spotlights and the GalleryOneSixty (G160) LED floodlights. As with TM Lighting’s full range of LED luminaires the G160 and the G130 use high CRI 95+ colour rendition LED’s. Artworks can now benefit from more precise lighting, drawing the viewer to connect with each piece. For further information please contact: marketing@tmlighting.com
