ROLE: PRODUCTION / MANUFACTURING/ LINE MANAGER

We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Manufacturing Manager with relevant experience in LED lighting for the architectural market or similar.  The role is to oversee and lead our Purchasing and Production teams. To ensure all projects are delivered on time, introduce new processes to improve efficiencies, report to the board each month and manage stock levels and production budgets and resources.

You will be working both directly and indirectly with our suppliers, clients and distributors globally.  You will manage the operations and supply chain from the point at which the client has been invoiced to the point at which the client is content with the product received from TM Lighting.

Key responsibilities:

     Manufacturing

    • Manage the assembly, procurement and production teams.
    • Manage the internal and external manufacturing processes.
    • Manage and maintain the current Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP Easy) software.
    •  Ensure production routings and processes are efficient and correct.
    • Manage the returns and samples.
    • Introduce production team to new designs in conjunction with Design Team
    • Run production meetings to ensure production team are briefed and introduced to any irregularities from normal production.
    • Ensure production team have a full suite of documentation for picking and production methodology.
    • Work in collaboration with the senior production staff to assist them in running the workshop team.
    • Manage product/stock handling, quality control and manufacturer returns.
    • Analyse and implement time savings production methods and processes.
    • Manage and lead production team to ensure efficient and timely delivery.
    • Ensure smooth production processes.
    • Reduce product returns.
    • Implement testing procedure documentation.
    • Strive to reduce lead times.

     Logistics

    • Oversee logistics for outbound and inbound goods.
    • Increase efficiencies for shipping.
    • Manage international shipping documentation and liaise with Accounts team on international shipments.
    • Suppliers/Vendors
    • Maintain and improve relationships with existing suppliers and vendors.
    • Implementation supplier/vendor approval processes.
    • Where required set-up and establish relationships with new suppliers and vendors.
    • Manage manufacturing and material samples.
    • Ensure existing and new suppliers and vendors are vetted and under NDA.
    • On-going review of existing and new production methods with the design team and where feasible and within brand propose manufacturing cost savings.

     Stock/Materials

    • Manage and improve stock control – KPIs to be agreed on the following.
    • Analyse stock turnover and manage purchasing in accordance with usage.
    • Reduce stock holding where feasible.
    • Improve stock efficiency.
    • Ensure old stock is sold/used when new designs are introduced.
    • Implement bar coding to components and products to improve stock control and picking.
    • Manage purchasing budgets and report to commercial manager about future purchasing.

     Communication

    • Hold regular meetings with design, production, commercial manager and directors to report on manufacturing issues, improvements, implementation and improve communication throughout.
    • Manage the production process to extract all relevant information from the TM Lighting team for all projects to ensure a smooth production process.
    • Liaise with the client to ensure the client is kept up to date with delivery date.
    • Liaise with the client to arrange installation where applicable.
    • Liaise with sales team about predicted lead times.

     Best practice

    • Examine implementation of ISO9001 or similar best practice processes long Term.
    • Examine UL/EDL approval and set-up US distributorship for current US orders.
    • Implement best practices throughout.
    • Create a centre for production excellence.
    • Lead by example.

Skills and experience:

  • Experience in MRP systems – preferably MRP Easy;
  • Excellent administration skills;

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, time management and organisational skills;

The primary function of this role is to support the Sales team with administration from inception to completion of projects, to provide excellent client services, as well as support and oversee the efficient day-to-day running of the studio.

General responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day running of everything to do with the office & gallery
  • Co-ordinate internal/external events
  • Oversee new hires & recruitment for new roles
  • Ensure we are up to date with all our online HR support, insurance, equipment & vehicle leases, licences, holiday leave, sick leave, work visas etc.
  • Co-ordinate suppliers and manage office overheads – including IT, phones, plumbers, cleaners, builders etc.
  • Provide administrative support for the day-to-day running of the studio
  • Provide excellent front facing client and customer service
  • Support diary management of team including Directors for internal and external meetings
  • Support Installation team with management of travel and accommodation
  • Support sales team with management of product samples
  • Oversee and manage IT Server filing system
  • Oversee and manage internal paper document filing system
  • Liaise with our clients by email and telephone
  • Manage in-house events in the TM Lighting Gallery
  • Organise team and colleague meetings & travel
  • Arrange internal staff events for special occasions & birthdays
  • Assist the sales team with quotations in MRP Easy
  • Handle enquiries when clients come into the studio
  • Manage stationary, literature, business cards and office equipment ordering
  • Ensure the studio is a well-presented, welcoming and organised environment

The primary function of this role is to meet with specifiers and and perform the proactive sales function in the business. With a minimum of 5 years experience in sales within the lighting industry, the candidate would have good connections with Lighting Designers, Interior Designers and Architects. Secondly to this, and specific to TM Lighting, is to meet clients with significant art collections, and to help them understand the importance of good art lighting will not only transform the collection, but also the home.

This role will be predominantly out of the office meeting clients, with touch points in the office as necessary. This role would be best suited to a confident, outward going person, with strong organisational skills.

  • Meet and exceed sales targets
  • The principle role is to build long term relationships with Lighting Designers, Interior Designers and Architects
  • Introduce our range of Art Lighting Products and seek specification sales opportunities
