We recently had the pleasure of collaborating with the London Design Festival to showcase the Craft × Tech Tohoku Project—an initiative that merges traditional Japanese craftsmanship with contemporary technology.
Craft × Tech aims to blend age-old Japanese artisanal techniques with modern technology to create innovative works that celebrate the heritage of these crafts while exploring their future potential. Curated by Maria Cristina Didero and led by design studio Tangent, the project is realized in partnership with the Craft × Tech Tohoku Association.
The inaugural edition features collaborations between master artisans from Japan’s Tohoku region—comprising six prefectures (Aomori, Akita, Iwate, Miyagi, Yamagata, and Fukushima)—and six renowned international design studios.
The exhibition was illuminated with our TM Gallery130 (G130) Spotlights providing even illumination and 98CRI high colour rendition. The G130 features quick-swap lenses to vary the beam width with ease and simplicity for temporary or evolving exhibitions. Our team expertly focused the lighting for the Craxt x Tech Tohoku Project, sculpting it to best illuminate each artwork.
