Spencer House was recognised as one of the most ambitious and magnificent private palaces ever built in London and remains today the city’s only great eighteenth-century house to survive intact.
TM Lighting was commissioned to upgrade the lighting in the Painted Room using the TM Stanchion System. The project required a discreet barrier to protect the historic furniture and wall murals from visitor contact while preserving the elegance of the space.
Integrated with ZeroThirty Spotlights, the TM Stanchion System serves a dual purpose, acting as both a protective barrier and a power distribution system for the surrounding spotlights. Controlled via Casambi Bluetooth technology, each stanchion can be individually dimmed to achieve precise lux levels, ensuring the stringent conservation requirements for the room’s delicate textiles, furnishings, and wall paintings are met.
Featuring high colour rendering LED light sources and precise optics, the lighting enhances the richness of the Painted Room and its collection, revealing fine detail, texture, and colour while safeguarding the historic interiors for future generations.
